Bridge to the Doctorate

The UT Arlington LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate (LSAMP-BD) program, with generous funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF grant number HRD-1026806), aims to recruit, retain, and graduate increased numbers of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals, especially those among women and under-represented minorities, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans. LSAMP-BD fellows receive a $30,000 stipend each year for two years as long as the program goals are met. The program provides funding for tuition and fees, student health insurance, research supplies, and travel to professional conferences to present research results. Fellows receive intensive mentoring and academic support to assist them in the successful completion of their graduate studies. After the initial two-year LSAMP-BD funding, fellows are supported by other funding mechanisms to ensure their timely graduation.
